History

REACT EMS began operations on March 17, 1996. The Shawnee Hospital Authority and the Pottawatomie County Hospital Authority created REACT Ambulance Authority to serve the same areas as EMPACT EMS and RESPOND EMS.

The creating authorities initially agreed to provide financial support to REACT EMS. REACT has been self-supporting since July 1996. Revenues are returned to replace and improve equipment and enhance the training capabilities of Paramedics and EMTs. No individuals own or profit from REACT operations.

REACT EMS was formed as a trust and operates under a set of bylaws. REACT EMS is governed by a board of directors selected by the community's stakeholders.

Our Mission

REACT EMS provides emergency and non-emergency pre-hospital health care to the 80,000+ citizens of Pottawatomie and southern Lincoln counties in Oklahoma.

REACT EMS is home to over 70 full and part-time employees who staff six ambulances 24/7/365. REACT EMS also has single Medic Emergency Response Units that provide coverage to our rural areas.

REACT EMS provides cutting-edge pre-hospital healthcare with state-of-the-art equipment and advanced medical protocols.

REACT EMS currently outfits our ambulances with Stryker Power Cots, Stryker Power Load Systems, LIFEPAK-15 Monitors, ZOLL IMPACT Patient Ventilators, LUCAS CPR Devices and Alaris IV Pumps.

REACT EMS is licensed by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as a Paramedic Level Ambulance Service. This is the highest level of service in the state of Oklahoma.

REACT transports over 2800 patients annually to facilities outside our area for specialized treatment including heart surgeries and neurological care.

Star of Life Program

It's a nationally known program for employee recognition. Company employees vote for the recipient and they get to fly to Washington, D.C. to discuss paramedic issues with their sitting national governmental representatives. Stars recognize the excellence of EMS staff while showcasing the value of our industry to legislators.
